Planes in Amish Country

There are lots of new, small, cheap, airlines. JetBlue, Independence Air, and USA3000 are a few of them. But there is one thing good old USAirways does that no one else does: Fly from lots of random airpiorts. In addition to Philadelphia, USAirways has service from Allentown, Lancaster, and Harrisburg. All of those are under 90 minutes from me.

For Thanksgiving, we flew from Lancaster. It's a totally different experience. The good:
  • You can arrive at the airport 30 minutes before your flight and not break a sweat to get on the plane.
  • Returning to Lancaster, you can go from the plane to the terminal (4o feet away) to the baggage claim (10 feet away) to the parking lot (100 feet away) in about 5 minutes. Yes, 5 minutes from the plane to your car in long-term parking. Time it next time you fly.
  • Cost of long-term parking: free
The bad:
  • You can fly nonstop to any place you want, as long as it's Pittsburgh.<>
  • <>That flight to Pittsburgh is on a Beechcraft 1900.
I'm still deciding if it's worth it ...
